The Tate is not only the city's most important gallery but also recognized as a world-class cultural attraction. The gallery is an old converted warehouse and the way it has been modernized is excellent and it opened in 1988, Tate Liverpool has presented over 150 different exhibitions and collection displays of work by hundreds of different artists, some seen for the first time in the UK. Some of the major exhibitions in the past five years include Summer of Love: Art of the Psychedelic Era, Jake and Dinos Chapman: Bad Art for Bad People and Peter Blake: A Retrospective.
